Dr. Barbara McCoo Lewis

A distinguished and enduring leader whose ministry has spanned more than six decades. She is marked by wisdom, service, and unwavering commitment to the work of the Kingdom. With a legacy rooted in faith, excellence and visionary leadership, she has served at every level of ministry, shaping lives and strengthening communities across generations. In 1970 she co-founded New Antioch Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, alongside her late husband Bishop James A. Lewis, establishing a ministry that would become a pillar of spiritual growth and community impact. Globally recognized as both an establishmentarian and humanitarian, she is known for her progressive and forward-thinking approach to ministry. As the Jurisdictional Supervisor in Southern California First Jurisdiction for 33 years, she led the women in the completion of a 4.7 million dollar 41 unit Senior Housing complex. Her leadership has been instrumental in guiding church leaders through seasons of growth and transformation. As the seventh in succession serving as the General Supervisor of Women for the Church of God in Christ, Inc she exemplifies pioneering, multigenerational leadership by mentoring, empowering and inspiring women and leaders around the world.  Her legacy is one of prayer, faith in action, servant leadership, and a timeless commitment to excellence that continues to influence the Church and future generations.
